The Alaskan Malamutes

Thank you for your interest in our babies! I'd like to introduce myself. I am Natasha Edwards. My interest in genetics began in Kindergarten the age of four. My kindergarten teacher brought silkworms into our class for a little classroom project. Being my little OCD self, I organised by them by the little colours on their backs. When they mated and their offspring grew, I realised that when paired to the same colour, they produced more of that colour than those who did not pair to the same colour. My fascination and love for genetics was born. In third grade, I helped breed painted lady butterflies to help grow the local migration.

I studied on my own for a time, and in high school, thanks to an amazing science teacher, my formal teachings began.

Having been a lifelong lover of the Siberian Husky, I had originally planned to breed Siberians. I had started the journey of extensive research into canine breeding, Siberian genetics, etc. During my research, I kept finding references to Alaskan Malamutes - mostly outlining the difference between Siberians and Malamutes. Out of curiosity, I googled Alaskan Malamutes. The very first result that came up was for Charmed Ones Malamutes. I wanted to see the adults first (all puppies are too cute to resist and I knew I would fall for puppies regardless lol) - the first adult on the page was

Lobo's Raven Wing of Arctic Shores.

When I saw her, it felt like something just clicked into place and I knew what my calling was. This was early 2005. Now, just shy of 20 years later, my main line still goes back to Raven Wing directly.

After extensive research, I bought home my first very first Alaskan Malamute in 2009 (Maveryck). A year and a half later, Dusty and Storm Dog joined my little family. In 2011, I had my first proper litter (I had raised rescue litters prior) - Maveryck, Storm Dog, and Dusty have since passed, but they live on in my heart, and on my pedigrees.

I have always focused my goals on Health & Temperament above all - to the point that I stand behind my puppies with a lifetime health & temperament guarantee. I do not, and will not ever breed according to trends, "supply and demand", etc. I breed to improve my lines and improve upon my goals. I also will not breed any malamute that is not a good balance of working drive and cuddles.

I did have a few rough years and in 2021 a couple evil people caused me to lose everything with their lies while I was on a ventilator fighting Covid. I have recovered what I could of my line, and am working towards my restart. I am so excited for my next litter in 2026!

As of writing this up at the end of 2024, I have had 5 well planned litters, 1 accidental litter, and 1 litter that I list as it was fully off of my lines, though I had very little role in raising the litter.
